What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Retail Store Manager position at Big Bend Hospice?
The Retail Assistant Manager in training is responsible for assisting the manager with day-to-day operations of the retail store. In particular, the individual will focus on sorting and pricing goods, social media and stocking the floor.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with general operations of store. *
- Under the direction of the store manager, achieve store standards and goals. *
- Closely collaborate and develop store marketing ideas. *
- Manages weekly sales promotions to drive store sales volume. *
- Collaborates with Retail Operations Manager and marketing team for marketing, social media posting and social media presence. *
- Assists in developing the store marketing calendar. *
- Develop content for daily social media posts. *
- Works closely with the store manager to establish and ensure consistent store policies and procedures are followed regarding:
- Condition and type of inventory accepted; pricing strategies; consignment guidelines; return policy, etc. *
- Providing donors with a receipt for merchandise, ensuring all applicable Federal and State tax. *
- Assist customers in locating and/or selecting merchandise. *
- Process customer sale transactions using cash register, bag merchandise, accept donations and thank the customer. *
- Accurately conduct sales transactions and maintain cash and credit card control by following proper procedures regarding voids, refunds, checks, credit cards, etc.
- Ensure donated goods are processed in a timely manner and meet quantity and quality standards and goals. *
- Works closely with the Retail Operations Manager to set up and maintain the current comprehensive store inventory system. *
- Provide excellent customer service and remain calm and professional in stressful situations. *
- Maintain the sales floor and inventory in a clean, neat and properly displayed manner. *
- Assist with store opening and closing procedures. *
- Follows up and ensures timely completion of all assigned projects. *
- Participate in a structured on-the-job training program focused on retail operations, leadership development, and store management fundamentals.*
- Learn and progressively demonstrate competency in store opening and closing procedures, inventory control, cash handling, merchandising standards, and customer service expectations.*
- Shadow and assist the Store Manager and Assistant Store manager in supervisory tasks, including staff and volunteer support, scheduling support, and operational decision-making, as appropriate to training level.*
- Receive ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance evaluations to assess readiness for increased responsibility.*
- Demonstrate readiness for advancement by consistently meeting performance expectations, operational standards, and customer service goals.*
Full-time 40 hours a week. Available to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays as needed. Availability may vary based on business needs and may include occasional extended shifts as needed
Qualifications:Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One-year experience in working in a retail or second-hand store preferred.
