Quality Control Inspector
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the QC Manager, the Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring that fabricated and assembled components used in the manufacturing of natural gas compressor packages meet company standards, engineering specifications, and customer requirements. This role will works closely with fabrication, assembly, and paint departments to ensure quality is maintained throughout the production process.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Including but are not limited to the following)
- Perform inspections of fabricated components, piping, structural assemblies, and completed compressor packages.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, and material specifications using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, and gauges.
- Review engineering drawings, P&IDs, and fabrication drawings to ensure work is completed according to specifications.
- Inspect welds, piping layouts, structural components, and mechanical assemblies for quality and compliance with company standards.
- Identify and document non-conforming materials or workmanship and communicate findings to supervisors and production personnel.
- Maintain inspection records and quality documentation in accordance with company procedures.
- Work with fabrication and assembly teams to resolve quality issues and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Perform final inspections of compressor packages prior to shipment to ensure customer specifications are met.
- Assist with maintaining company quality control procedures and standards.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- 2 years of quality inspection experience in manufacturing, fabrication, or oil & gas equipment environments preferred.
- Familiarity with weld inspection and welding procedures is preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical specifications.
- Experience inspecting fabricated steel structures, piping systems, and mechanical assemblies is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and documentation skills.
- Basic computer skills for quality documentation and reporting.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. when required.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing shop environment around fabrication and assembly equipment.
- Must be able to perform detailed visual inspections of components and assemblies.
