Job Description
- Experienced Diesel and Gasoline Engine Mechanic for school buses to maintain the district's level of commitment to safety and service to the students and parents/guardians of the Beverly Public Schools
- Perform school bus repair and maintenance work in accordance with factory and industry standards, run diagnostics on school buses and work closely with other team members to meet district transportation goals
- Base schedule is Monday-Friday, 25 hours per week

Key Responsibilities and Qualifications
- Perform minor and major repairs on school buses and vans
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on school buses and vans, including inspection, tire rotation and oil changes
- Maintain parts inventory and shop cleanliness
- Collaborate with repair team to diagnose vehicle issues and plan repairs
- Perform regular diagnostic tests on vehicles
- Maintain accurate record of each repair performed
- 5 years experience as Diesel and Gasoline School Bus Mechanic
- Excellent reading and writing skills

Physical Demands
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop.
- The employee must lift and/or move up to 150 pounds.
Work Environment
- Work is performed in a Public School Bus/Van. Majority of the work is performed in a moderately noisy environment with frequent interruptions.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must possess valid MA CDL with school bus driver certification
- ASE Diesel Certification an asset
- Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment
Compensation
- Compensation is set in accordance with the Beverly Public Schools Transportation collective bargaining agreement.
Employment Eligibility
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a CORI and SORI background check and fingerprint-based national criminal history check, in accordance with Massachusetts law.
- In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire.
- Pre-employment physical examination is required; subject to random drug testing and annual physical exams
