What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mechanic position at Merrimack College?
Position Overview
Under the direction of the Facilities and Grounds Manager and/or his/her designee, the Mechanic will be responsible for the repairs and maintenance of the College’s campus vehicles and equipment. The Mechanic will work closely with the Grounds Manager and Facilities staff to effectively meet the College's physical needs and support its overall mission.
Position Responsibilities:
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all college vehicles and landscape equipment
Provide safe, operational equipment for all staff to use
Develop preventative maintenance schedules for all equipment and perform maintenance as needed
Perform repairs needed on all equipment
Keep a parts inventory of all parts needed for equipment
Maintain a clean and tidy garage
Record all maintenance records for equipment
A reasonable amount of overtime is required, especially around major campus and weather events
Order all Fuel, Oil, and Propane for the campus fleet
Assist with snow removal during the winter
All other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications:
Knowledge of vehicle repairs, small engine repairs, and hydraulic systems
Able to work well and communicate with others
Able to use tools safely and efficiently
A high school diploma is required
An Associate's Degree or Bachelor's Degree is preferred
Licensing/Experience Requirements:
OSHA 10-Hour Course
5 years of mechanic experience is required.
ASE certified is preferred
A valid driver’s license is required
Hoisting License or CDL is preferred
