LAUNDRY AIDE
Job Summary: Provide all residents with clean personal clothes delivered to their individual room each day. All non-personal laundry is sorted and loaded into transport van and unloaded upon return.
Job Relationships:
1. Reports to: Environmental Services Director.
2. Internal Contact: Pleasant View laundry staff, Housekeepers, Nursing Assistants, and Maintenance.
Hours of Work: 6:00am-2:30pm
Dress Code: Scrubs and identification name badge
Essential Requirements of Work: (Sufficient to do required duties)
1. Knowledge of how to do laundry tasks.
2. Have genuine desire to have the resident look well pressed.
3. Able to read and write English.
4. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
5. Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers.
6. Ability to cooperate with residents and families.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability to Perform at Full Performance:
1. Knowledge of each residents name and location.
2. Ability to sort residents’ laundry in an orderly and efficient manner.
3. Sense of responsibility.
4. Ability to follow directions.
Physical Demands of The Job:
1. Pushing and pulling approximately 100 pounds on wheels.
2. Continual standing and walking.
3. Bending, and stooping frequently.
4. Exposure to communicable diseases through direct resident contact.
5. Exposure to disinfectants and various cleaning units.
6. Exposure to potentially contaminated laundry and dressings.
7. Exposure occasionally to disorientated or unpredictable residents who may be physically or verbally abusive.
Quality Performance results in:
1. Better basic care provided for the residents.
2. Keeping residents comfortable, neatly dressed, and satisfied.
3. Assisting residents that may be missing clothing so that they feel comfortable that you have made your very best efforts.
4. Families are pleased that residents have clean and pressed clothing.

3. Others would have to work harder.

1. Wash clothes according to procedure.
2. Sort, wash, and fold clothing.
3. Sort clothing by color and type of fabric.
4. Wash clothes using proper chemicals.
5. Dry according to instructions on clothing.
6. Fold all clothes neatly.
7. Iron any personal items that need ironing.
8. Assist in the transportation of linens to Pleasant View.
9. Help load and unload linen into or out of the van.
10. Sweep floors in laundry room at the end of the day.
11. Mop floors on Saturdays.
12. Maintain laundry in a neat and orderly manner.
13. Deliver all personal clothes to residents’ rooms.
14. Cleaning the laundry department spaces
