COMPLIANCE/EDUCATION SUPPORT RN
JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Summary: The Compliance/Education Support RN supports nursing operations by ensuring adherence to State and Federal regulations, facility policies, and best practices in resident care. This role provides flexible support across clinical and compliance areas, including coverage for Case Managers during absences, assistance with the MDS process, care plans, and assessments, and direct care support as needed. This position is also responsible for teaching the in-house OnTrack CNA classes, TMA (Trained Medication Aide) development, new hire development, and mentoring on an as needed basis. When Compliance/Education Support responsibilities are not needed, this role will provide medication administration. 

Job Relationships:

  1. Reports to: Director of Nursing
  2. Supervises: Monitors and directs staff RNs, LPNs, TMAs and CNAs to provide the highest quality resident care. 
  3. Internal Relationships: Coordinates resident care with interdisciplinary team members and other professional providers. 
  4. External Contacts: Resident family members, physicians, and other service providers.


Hours of Work: 32-40 hours per week, required weekend and holiday rotation.


Dress code: Casual dress clothes or scrub uniform and name badge. 


Essential Requirements of Work: Minimum qualifications necessary to function at full productivity

  1. Education:
  1. Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. 
  2. Must be a Registered Nurse in MN
  3. CPR certified


  1. Experience
    1. Minimum of two-years long-term care experience preferred.


  1. Job Knowledge
    1. Working knowledge of Medicare, State/Federal regulations, and Case Mix. 
    2. Experience in completing MDS’s and the MDS process 
    3. Skilled in work organization, time management, and delegation
    4. Possess and use a resident focus and service excellence philosophy.
    5. Possess a professional, courteous, and calm manner
    6. Have good communication skills in the English language


Physical Demands of the job: 

  1. Ability to work under moderate levels of stress
  2. Requires frequent change of position to include: standing, sitting, walking, bending, and kneeling
  3. Patient handlers must sign & comply with the Skilled Nursing Facility Safe Patient Handling Policy.


Mental Demands of the Job: 

  1. Judgement of Initiative: A wide variety of complex decisions are made. Initiative can be measured by timely accomplishments of assigned projects and predetermined goals. 
  2. Independent Action: A high degree of independent action necessary. The job requires self-motivation to function at full productivity. 
  3. Effect of Error- errors can result in poor resident care, budge discrepancies, staff problems, and unsafe environment. 
  4. Contact with others: Position requires contact with virtually all persons associated with the nursing home.


Principle Job Responsibilities:

Responsibility: Provide RN Case Manager coverage for both long-term and short-term units. 

  1. Provide short-term coverage for Case Managers during absences
  2. Participate in rounds, assessments, and care conferences when covering
  3. Monitor care delivery and resident status in collaboration with floor staff
  4. Assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers
  5. Communicate resident changes or concerns to providers and leadership
  6. Ensure compliance with care plans, physician order, and facility protocols

Responsibility: MDS, Care Planning & Assessment Support

  1. Assist MDS Coordinator with timely, accurate completion of MDS assessments
  2. Conduct clinical assessments
  3. Complete, review and update resident care plans
  4. Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings 
  5. Monitor documentation for accuracy and compliance


Responsibility: Provide education to staff. 

  1. Lead and coordinate mentoring for nursing staff
  2. Teach in-house OnTrack CNA classes
  3. Provide additional coaching and training to staff as assigned


Responsibility: Assist with Infection Control 

A. Assist with audits

B. Assist with vaccinations

C. Assist with fit testing

D. Check in with Infection Preventionist PRN


Responsibility: Direct Care & Medication Cart Support


  1. Be flexible as needed to assist on the medication cart or with direct nursing care
  2. Perform skilled nursing tasks and respond to resident needs
  3. Support the team in maintaining smooth workflow during high-need periods
  4. Transcribes physician orders or co-signs the orders transcribed by RN or LPN. 
  5. Performs appropriate clinical assessments for residents who are acutely ill and documents the findings of these assessments in the resident record.

Responsibility: Resident Rights & Quality of Care


  1. Acts as an advocate for Resident Bill of Rights and monitors and directs unity staff in this area. 
  2. Assures that all residents, families, and staff are aware of resident rights. 
  3. Assists in the identification of vulnerable adult issues and follow appropriate reporting requirements. 
  4. Respects resident property
  5. Maintains dignity and privacy of residents by knocking before entering resident room, addressing them in a respectful manner, discussing their status in a private manner, treating them in a courteous and polite manner.


Responsibility: Customer Service 

  1. Demonstrates sensitivity to customers and their needs. 
  2. Interacts appropriately with internal customers, i.e. co-workers with department and staff across departments. 
  3. Interacts appropriately with external customers, i.e. patients, residents, families, medical staff, and venders
  4. Role models positive behaviors

  5. Maintain a professional conduct and pleasant, friendly attitude towards staff, residents, and visitors.

Salary : $86,328 - $97,220
