A leading, design-focused, multidisciplinary architecture practice is seeking a Senior Campus Planner to lead complex campus planning projects, primarily within the higher education sector.
Working closely with senior leadership, this role will drive project strategy, design direction, and delivery across a diverse portfolio including campus master plans, academic and research facilities, student life environments, and district-scale planning initiatives. You’ll play a key role in translating institutional goals into clear, actionable planning frameworks while leading multidisciplinary teams from concept through implementation.
This is preferably located on-site 3 days/week in Washington, DC or Baltimore, MD. Although remote candidates may be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of campus planning projects, including master plans, precinct plans, feasibility studies, and space programming
- Act as Project Manager, overseeing schedules, budgets, resourcing, and financial performance
- Serve as the primary client contact, maintaining strong relationships and ensuring successful project outcomes
- Translate client objectives into a clear planning vision and guide teams in executing that vision
- Develop compelling narratives and presentations that communicate complex planning strategies effectively
- Produce high-quality deliverables including reports, diagrams, and data-driven visual content
- Ensure design quality, technical rigor, and alignment with project goals
- Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to a collaborative studio culture
- Contribute to business development, proposals, and client engagement activities
- Stay informed on emerging trends, technologies, and data-driven planning tools
Skills & Experience
- 10 years of experience in design-led planning, ideally with a focus on higher education projects
- Background in a multidisciplinary design environment preferred
- Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- Professional licensure (Architect and/or AICP) strongly preferred
- Strong project management and client-facing experience
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite
- Working knowledge of tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, SketchUp, Rhino, and rendering software
- Experience with project management platforms (e.g., Deltek Vantagepoint) beneficial

Salary : $90,000 - $130,000
