A leading national architecture and design firm is seeking a Managing Principal to lead its Los Angeles studio — a flagship office and key driver of regional growth. This is a senior leadership role for a commercially minded, people-first leader ready to serve as the face of the firm in one of the most dynamic architecture and design markets in the country.
The Los Angeles office operates with approximately 50 - 60 professionals. The incoming leader will oversee the office while sitting within a collaborative regional leadership team and reporting to the Regional Practice Director.
The Role
The candidate will lead the base design business of the Los Angeles office, overseeing operations and serving as its primary client-facing executive. The role spans multiple market sectors including healthcare, education, community and civic, and commercial. While maintaining responsibility for building the practice internally and identifying key hires and areas for staff development, this is primarily a client-facing role with a remit for top-line growth
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new business development and own top-line revenue growth for the office
- Build and sustain strong client relationships across multiple market sectors
- Reset and strengthen office culture — a key immediate priority
- Provide visible, present leadership (minimum 3 days per week in-office)
- Attract, recruit, and retain top design talent to scale the team
- Collaborate with market sector leaders, client leaders, and regional leadership
- Support growth of engineering presence in the West region
