The Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel is looking for a Director of Sales to join its hotel leadership team. As the Director of Sales, you will lead the hotel's efforts to grow revenue, expand market share, and create meaningful relationships with clients, partners, and the local community. This position is responsible for developing and executing sales strategies that generate new business while strengthening existing relationships. As the leader of the sales team, you will guide day-to-day sales efforts, mentor and develop team members, and help position the Berkeley as one of the Jersey Shore's most sought-after destinations for meetings, celebrations, and coastal getaways.
The essential functions of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop and execute sales plans designed to achieve and exceed hotel revenue objectives across guest rooms, meetings, events, weddings, and catering
- Lead all group sales efforts, including corporate meetings, conferences, association business, social events, weddings, and special events
- Drive transient revenue through strategic partnerships, travel trade relationships, consortia, and local market opportunities
- Prospect, solicit, and secure new business through sales calls, networking, site visits, trade shows, industry events, and community engagement
- Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, meeting planners, wedding professionals, third-party partners, and key accounts
- Oversee the sales team's performance, coaching, development, goal setting, and accountability
Required Skills & Qualifications
- 3 years of hotel sales experience with a proven track record of driving revenue growth, with Asbury Park experience highly preferred
- Exceptional leadership skills to inspire and motivate a team
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building abilities
- Experience with platforms such as Opera PMS, S&C Systems, GDS Systems, Cvent, and Microsoft Office
- A creative, proactive, self-starter who thrives in a dynamic, independent hotel setting
