Elementary and Middle School Physical Education (PE) Teacher
Location: Berkeley Preparatory Academy
Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Reports To: Principal
Position Overview:
The PE Teacher is responsible for providing physical education instruction that promotes health, fitness, and physical activity. This role includes designing age-appropriate lessons and fostering positive habits that support physical well-being.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement physical education curriculum for students in grades K-8.

Teach students skills related to sports, fitness, and overall wellness.

Foster an environment that emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship, and physical health.

Assess students’ physical fitness and provide feedback on their progress.

Organize and supervise physical education events and activities.

Communicate with parents regarding students' physical development.

Collaborate with other teachers to integrate physical education across subjects.

Promote the importance of lifelong physical activity and health.

Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Physical Education or related field.

Valid South Carolina teaching certification.

Experience in teaching physical education at the elementary and middle school levels.

Strong knowledge of fitness and sports education.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. This position operates in a professional school environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required.
This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
