Staff Accountant / Tax Preparer

Well-established Omaha CPA firm looking for a motivated, detail-driven Staff Accountant to join our team. This role is built for early-career accounting professionals (0–1-year experience) ready to get real hands-on experience with a diverse client base across tax, accounting, and advisory work with direct mentorship from managers and partners every step of the way.

What You'll Do
- Prepare individual Federal and State income tax returns
- Prepare business, partnership, and related Federal and State tax returns
- Conduct tax research and help resolve client tax issues
- Prepare Federal and State payroll tax returns and personal property tax returns
- Support bookkeeping and accounting service engagements
- Help implement and maintain QuickBooks for clients
- Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules
- Partner with managers and partners on client engagements and special projects
- Build a deep, practical understanding of individual and business taxation
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree in accounting
- Comfort with technology and a willingness to learn new software quickly
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Sharp attention to detail and solid organizational habits
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities and hit deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to put in extra hours during peak tax season (January–April) and as project needs arise
- Willing to pursue CPA licensure, either already meeting the requirements to sit for the exam or working toward a clear plan to do so
Nice to Have
- Exposure to CCH Axcess or Prosystem FX Tax
- QuickBooks experience
- Solid working knowledge of Excel and Word
- Familiarity with GAAP principles
Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
