Job Summary
Bergen & Parkinson is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Assistant to support our team. We are looking for a highly motivated individual with accounting experience. The ideal candidate will be capable of managing a variety of financial tasks with accuracy, discretion, and professionalism in a legal environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with numbers, staying organized, and contributing to a collaborative office environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and distribute attorney billing statements using legal accounting software.
- Accurately enter vendor invoices into the accounts payable system and maintain organized records.
- Handle daily deposit activities for incoming firm revenue, ensuring timely and accurate bank transactions.
- Record trust account transactions in compliance with firm protocol.
- Respond to client inquiries regarding billing statements and provide clear, professional communication.
- Prepare and distribute checks in accordance with firm procedures.
- Provide general accounting administrative support to the Firm Administrator.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys and staff regarding billing, payments, and account inquiries.
Requirements
- Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and standard legal accounting software
- Strong mathematical and accounting aptitude
- Familiarity with trust accounting and legal billing practices preferred
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Prior experience in a law firm or professional services environment is a plus
