Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer
Location: Mason, OH 45040
Employment Type: W2 Contract – 6 Month with possibility for extensions
Pay Rate: $45.00 – $50.00/hour (determined by experience, paid weekly)
Work Model: 100% Onsite in Mason, OH when not traveling
Travel: Up to 90% throughout the U.S. to customer sites

Role Overview
BEPC is seeking an experienced PLC Controls Engineer to lead electrical controls projects for integrated material handling systems. This role is responsible for PLC programming, electrical project execution, system commissioning, customer site support, and technical project leadership.
The ideal candidate will have strong control engineering experience, PLC programming expertise, leadership experience, and the ability to travel extensively to customer sites across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead automation and controls projects for material handling customers.
- Develop and implement PLC code for automated material handling equipment.
- Review AutoCAD layouts, electrical schematics, and project drawings to support programming and implementation.
- Test PLC prototypes internally and onsite for new projects and system changes.
- Execute onsite test plans, including internal testing and customer acceptance testing.
- Support BUAT, UAT, FAT, and commissioning activities.
- Apply established engineering methodologies to project tasks and deliverables.
- Coordinate electrical project activities, schedules, resources, and reporting.
- Manage scope, budget, schedule, and customer expectations throughout the project lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineering teams and cross-functional stakeholders.
- Attend weekly project meetings and review task timelines.
- Prepare and update technical reports, documentation, and project status updates.
- Monitor project task lists and timelines while reporting progress regularly.
- Assess programming and commissioning methods to ensure standard coding practices are followed.
- Evaluate and recommend technical solutions based on accepted engineering practices.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering required.
- Minimum 4 years of controls engineering experience in a similar role.
- Leadership experience as a Project Lead, Project Manager, Supervisor, Team Lead, or similar role.
- Ability and willingness to travel more than 85% of the time.
- Experience with e-commerce material handling systems.
- Experience with PLC programming and electrical design.
- Experience with project planning and budgeting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams and customer stakeholders.

- Ability to make timely decisions in complex project environments.
Work Environment
This position requires extensive travel to customer sites across the United States. When not traveling, the role is fully onsite in Mason, OH. The work involves hands-on controls engineering, system commissioning, technical troubleshooting, and project leadership in fast-paced customer environments.
