Pay Rate: $16.00–$17.24/hour (Determined by Experience, Paid Weekly)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–4:30 PM (40 hours/week, with potential overtime based on business needs)

Role Overview

BEPC is actively looking for a Media Prep Lab Services Associate Technician in the South San Francisco, CA area!

BEPC is seeking a highly motivated Media Prep Lab Services Associate Technician to join our client's Early Research & Development laboratory operations team. This position supports research laboratories by preparing microbiological and cell culture media, processing laboratory glassware, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring laboratory readiness for scientific teams.

The ideal candidate has experience in laboratory support operations, media preparation, glassware processing, or similar laboratory environments. Success in this role requires excellent attention to detail, strong organizational skills, the ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and a commitment to safety, quality, and customer service in a regulated laboratory environment.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

Laboratory Operations

• Clean, inspect, sterilize, and prepare laboratory glassware and equipment for research use.
• Operate and maintain laboratory equipment including:
• Autoclaves
• Glassware washers
• Ovens
• Sterilization equipment
• Tanks and other laboratory processing equipment
• Prepare equipment and supplies for laboratory operations.
• Maintain organized laboratory workspaces and support routine laboratory maintenance activities.

Media Preparation

• Prepare microbiological media, cell culture media, buffers, reagents, stock solutions, and custom media according to established SOPs.
• Label, aliquot, store, and distribute prepared materials according to quality and storage requirements.
• Monitor reagent inventory and expiration dates.
• Support laboratory operations by ensuring adequate inventory levels of media and supplies.

Compliance & Documentation

• Follow all GMP, GLP, SOP, and laboratory safety requirements.
• Complete batch records, equipment logs, sterilization records, and laboratory documentation accurately.
• Maintain documentation in accordance with ALCOA principles and quality requirements.
• Support audit readiness by maintaining complete and accurate documentation.

Inventory & Laboratory Support

• Receive, unpack, organize, and stock laboratory materials and supplies.
• Maintain laboratory inventory and coordinate replenishment activities.
• Support waste disposal activities in accordance with laboratory safety requirements.
• Ensure laboratory consumables remain available to support research operations.

Team Support & Continuous Improvement

• Assist with training and mentoring new laboratory technicians.
• Troubleshoot routine equipment and operational issues.
• Identify opportunities to improve laboratory processes and operational efficiency.
• Participate in Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with scientists, laboratory managers, and cross-functional teams to support research activities.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant laboratory, media preparation, glassware processing, or laboratory operations experience.
• College-level coursework in Biology, Chemistry, or a related science preferred.
• Basic knowledge of laboratory safety practices and aseptic techniques.
• Experience operating autoclaves, sterilizers, washers, ovens, or similar laboratory equipment.
• Familiarity with media preparation, reagent preparation, or buffer preparation.
• Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office and laboratory tracking systems).
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate Degree (AA/AS) in Biology, Chemistry, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline.
• Experience supporting GMP, GLP, or regulated laboratory environments.
• Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Operational Excellence initiatives.
• Experience training or mentoring laboratory technicians.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
• Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with laboratory processing equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the workday.
• Ability to work occasional overtime, weekends, or alternate shifts as business needs require.
• Must maintain laboratory safety standards while working with laboratory equipment and materials.
