BEPC is actively looking for Centralized Services Lab Assistant, in South San Francisco, CA area!
W2 Contract – 3 months with possible extensions!

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $24.14/hour - Determined based on experience (Paid Weekly)
Work Model: Onsite role - Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Initial 3 months; extensions pending performance with a maximum length of stay of 3 years

Summary of the Role:
BEPC is seeking a highly motivated Centralized Services Lab Assistant to join our client’s site in South San Francisco, CA. This role will support Materials Operations & Lab Services activities by ensuring operational continuity, maintaining safety and quality standards, supporting laboratory operations, managing inventory, preparing materials and equipment, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and providing excellent customer service while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations and procedures.
The responsibilities for this position may include, but are not limited to, supporting laboratory operations, inventory management, material handling, equipment operation, shipping activities, customer support, and continuous process improvement initiatives.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the management team and Materials Operations & Lab Services team members to achieve operational objectives while maintaining safety and quality standards.
- Work effectively in a team to ensure operational continuity and proactively identify procedural improvements.
- Ensure internal and external compliance (GLP, DOT, HazMat, etc.).
- Follow required safety procedures and participate in safety awareness and training activities.
- Manage laboratory consumables, reagents, chemicals, and glassware inventory levels.
- Observe proper handling, storage, and temperature requirements of materials.
- Operate process equipment including autoclaves, washers, ovens, and benchtop instruments.
- Execute glass wash and equipment preparation activities.
- Clean, sterilize, prepare, and distribute labware and equipment.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure reagents, equipment, and resources are available for project execution.
- Pack materials according to shipping requirements and prepare shipping documentation.
- Minimize delays caused by warehouse operations to prevent interruptions to customer processes.
- Troubleshoot operational errors and support operations.
- Respond to customer inquiries via email, phone, and in person.
- Attend departmental meetings as scheduled.
- Serve as a liaison between customers and Materials Operations & Lab Services staff.
- Adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and assigned projects.
- Provide routine progress, status, and issue updates to supervisors and leads.
- Participate in departmental projects as needed.
- Demonstrate professionalism and respect in a diverse work environment.
- Communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
- Complete assigned duties, workload, and backup tasks on time.
- Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean condition.
- Demonstrate proficiency with material handling equipment and relevant computer applications.
- Ensure all work is completed by the end of the day and maximize productivity.
- Meet timeline commitments and communicate delays as necessary.
- Adhere to applicable laws, regulations, programs, and DOT compliance requirements.
- Maintain punctuality.
- Complete all required training, certifications, and compliance records on time.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED and one of the following:
- Completion of college-level coursework in biological sciences and/or physical sciences.
- AA/AS Degree in a related science major.
- Possess effective time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Self-starter with strong focus on quality, attention to detail, and delivering results.
- Good problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Strong initiative with a focus on safety, quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work 40 hours per week and overtime as needed.
- Ability to work weekends, off-shift hours, and overtime as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- BA or BS degree preferred.
- Experience with labware preparation, material packing/handling, inventory management, and/or warehousing.
- Passion for continuous process improvement.
- LEAN or other Operational Excellence training and experience.
- Demonstrated collaboration and teamwork.
- Knowledge of safe chemical handling.
