Occupational Therapist

Bensalem Township School District is anticipating to hire an Occupational Therapist.  

POSITION TITLE: Occupational Therapist (School-Based) REPORTS TO: Assistant to the Superintendent of Special Services

POSITION GOAL: The Occupational Therapist (OT) provides evaluation, intervention, and consultation services to students whose disabilities impact their ability to participate in the educational environment. Services are delivered in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and applicable federal and state regulations.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Strong knowledge of child development and school-based therapy practices. 2. Excellent collaboration and communication skills. 3. Ability to manage a caseload and meet required deadlines. 4. Strong documentation and organizational skills. 5. Participate as a member of the IEP team. 6. Provide consultation to teachers and school staff regarding student needs and accommodations. 7. Recommend adaptive equipment and environmental modifications. 8. Support classroom implementation of motor and sensory strategies.

SPECIFIC QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.

2. Current Pennsylvania license to practice Occupational Therapy.

3. National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.

4. Human relations skills.

5. Planning skills.

6. Ability to use instructional materials and equipment.

7. Knowledge of child growth and development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct occupational therapy evaluations for students referred for services.

2. Administer and interpret standardized and non-standardized assessments related to fine motor, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, and functional school skills.

3. Prepare written evaluation reports and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.

4. Develop measurable occupational therapy goals aligned with student educational needs.

5. Provide direct and indirect therapy services as specified in the student’s IEP.

6. Support development of fine motor skills, handwriting, sensory regulation, and functional classroom skills.

7. Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and administrators. 8. Provide strategies and accommodations to classroom staff.

9. Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding student progress.

10. Maintain accurate service logs, progress notes, and documentation required for compliance.

11. Other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to assist students with positioning and mobility as needed. Ability to demonstrate therapeutic activities and motor exercises. Salary : $53,702 - $118,992
