What You Will Do
We are looking for a full-time Project Accountant to work out of our Atlanta, Charlotte, Chattanooga or Raleigh office. The Project Accountant will report to our Accounting Manager and will be responsible for assisting with various financial aspects of projects including creation, review, billing and revenue. We’re looking for someone who has an eye for detail, adaptable, and likes to collaborate.

The Project Accountant will report to our Accounting Manager and will be responsible for assisting with various financial aspects of projects including creation, review, billing and revenue. As a Project Accountant, your primary responsibilities in this role will be:
- Collaborate with Project Managers to oversee and manage all financial aspects of projects, including revenue recognition, billing, and invoicing.
- Support Project Coordinators or Project Managers with project setup and ensure the accuracy of all project-related data.
- Configure complex projects within Acumatica and maintain detailed project records.
- Provide timely and proactive updates on project financials, including budget tracking and expense reporting.
- Ensure accurate allocation of project time and resources.
- Manage and maintain project contracts, ensuring all terms are met.
- Perform financial analysis to support proposal pricing and other financial decision-making.
- Conduct project cleanup and closeout activities, including reviewing revenue budgets, balances, unbilled projects, task allocations, and project activity, and following up with the Project Coordinator as needed.
What We Are Looking For:
- Associate’s degree in Business, Administration or related area
- Minimum 3 years' of AEC industry experience.
- Intermediate skills in Excel required, advanced preferred. Ability to create pivot tables, use lookup functions, understand and edit excel formulas etc.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and standard practices
- Proficiency in specialized project accounting software (e.g. Oracle, Deltek) and other financial management tools (Textura). Acumatica experience is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and have strong attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in managing general ledgers, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to convey financial information to different audiences.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to regulatory changes, new technologies and a growing/evolving business environment.
