Responsibilities
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ health status by observing vital signs and overall condition; report any concerns to healthcare professionals promptly
- Support medication administration and care plan adherence in accordance with HIPAA regulations and facility policies
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Use specialized equipment like Hoyer lifts or transfer devices to ensure safe patient transfers and prevent injury
- Document care activities accurately in compliance with privacy standards such as HIPAA; update patient records regularly
- Provide emotional support and companionship to foster a positive environment for residents or clients
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in assisted living, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques and ability to recognize changes in condition or behavior
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional certifications such as Alzheimer's or dementia care are advantageous
- Familiarity with medication administration, care plans, and HIPAA compliance is essential
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate patient transfer equipment like Hoyer lifts
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, or dementia enhances your effectiveness in this role
- Strong communication skills and compassionate attitude towards diverse populations including seniors, individuals with disabilities or chronic illnesses
