Position Objective
The position of Financial Operations Support Specialist is to provide support for both the District’s budgeting processes and its accounting operations across all funds, departments, and schools.
This is a project-based position scheduled to conclude on December 31, 2027, with annual reviews to determine continuation for the duration of the project.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
Positions in this class typically may require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, finger dexterity, grasping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time.
Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.
Conditions Of Employment
CTSA Grade 4 $ 76,719 annual to $ 80,757 annual salary (starting at $ 76,719 annual salary) 40 hours per week for a 260-day annual assignment. Medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, and life-insurance eligibility is based upon 630 hours worked within a school year. Retirement provided through Washington State Department of Retirement Systems. Other benefits include vacation and paid holidays.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: (These duties are a representative sample; position assignments may vary.)
- Performs a variety of financial, accounting, and analytical duties, including special projects, as assigned.
- Conducts reconciliations for financial accounts and records across all funds.
- Manages financial tools and systems, including online banking and related applications.
- Prepares, reviews, and analyzes journal entries, financial adjustments, and related documentation.
- Performs account and bank reconciliations, cash transfers, and other routine financial transactions.
- Provides guidance to departments and schools on financial procedures, internal controls, and compliance requirements.
- Reviews financial data for accuracy, conducts audits of submitted information, and resolves discrepancies.
- Summarizes, prepares, and supports the development of financial plans and budgets for departments and schools.
- Conducts financial and budget analysis to support planning and monitoring.
- Partners with schools, departments, and budget owners on financial processes including budgeting, forecasting, analysis, and reconciliation.
- Supports the preparation and monitoring of financial reports, including expenditures, revenues, and budget-to-actual performance.
- Provides backup and peak-period support to team members.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (positions in this class typically require):
- Associate’s degree or equivalent
- Demonstrated experience performing accurate, high volume: data entry, auditing and reporting.
- Prior work experience in a fast paced, high volume administrative or operational environment.
- Has familiarity with public education, budget or accounting office and financial systems.
- Bachelor’s degree
- Knowledge of general accounting practices, procedures, and related financial regulations.
- Ability to perform duties in compliance with Board policies, District guidelines, and legal requirements.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, formulas, links, graphs, and charts.
- Strong computer skills, including proficient use of Microsoft 365 applications.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and work completion.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical and procedural information to non-technical audiences.
- Strong oral and written communication skills with consistent, professional, and clear messaging.
- Effective customer service skills, including sensitivity to employee needs and the ability to assist in de-escalating emotionally charged situations.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet inflexible deadlines.
- Demonstrates multicultural sensitivity with the ability to effectively and collaboratively work with diverse populations
