What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Swim Team Coach position at Bellefonte YMCA?
Assistant Swim Team Coaches are responsible for supporting swim team practices, reinforcing safety standards, and helping create a positive learning environment for swimmers. The Assistant Coach will work under the direction of the Head Swim Team Coach and assist in delivering structured, effective instruction for athletes of varying skill levels.
Primary Responsibilities
- Interact positively with swimmers, parents, and YMCA members
- Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to swimmers
- Redirect parent or participant questions and concerns to the Head Coach
- Arrive on time and prepared with practice plans appropriate for assigned swim levels
- Support safe swimming practices and assist lifeguards in maintaining pool safety
- Attend swim meets as needed for the Head Swim Team Coach
- Stay aware of current trends and techniques in competitive swimming and apply them as appropriate
Qualifications
- At least some high school education required
- Competitive swimming experience required
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Commitment to safety, inclusion, and YMCA values
