Machine Shop Manager

Position Summary:

The Machine Shop Manager oversees daily operations of a machine shop, ensuring efficient production, high-quality output, and a safe working environment. This role is responsible for managing personnel, coordinating workflows, maintaining equipment, and meeting production deadlines. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management
  • Plan, organize, and supervise daily machine shop activities
  • Ensure production schedules are met on time
  • Optimize workflow, staffing, and machine utilization
• Team Leadership
  • Hire, train, and supervise machinists, CNC operators, and support staff
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching
  • Foster a positive, productive, and safety-focused work environment
• Quality Control
  • Ensure all parts meet specifications and quality standards
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance procedures
  • Address and resolve production or quality issues
• Equipment & Maintenance
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of machines and tools
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules
  • Evaluate and recommend new equipment or upgrades
• Safety & Compliance
  • Enforce workplace safety standards and regulations
  • Conduct safety training and audits
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards
• Process Improvement
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce waste
  • Implement lean manufacturing or continuous improvement initiatives
  • Monitor production metrics
• Inventory Management
  • Manage tooling, materials, and supplies inventory
  • Work with procurement and vendors as needed
• Customer & Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with engineering and production planning
  • Review blueprints, CAD drawings, and job specifications
  • Ensure requirements and deadlines are met

Qualifications

• Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate’s degree in manufacturing, engineering, or related field preferred
• Experience
  • 5 years of experience in machining or manufacturing
  • 2–3 years in a supervisory or management role
  • Strong knowledge of CNC machining, tooling, and fabrication processes
• Skills
  • Leadership and team management
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAM software
  • Understanding of lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills

Schedule:

• Monday to Friday
  • 7AM-4PM
• Ability to Commute

Salary : $70,000 - $90,000
