A well-established Catholic organization in San Francisco is seeking a Payroll Lead to join a small, collaborative payroll team. This role will support a growing payroll operation and serve as the primary backup to the Payroll Manager as needed
The team processes payroll across approximately 150 locations with a workforce of roughly 3,800-4,000 employees. Complexity comes from the volume, multi-location structure, and varied worker types.
Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll across multiple locations and employee groups
- Serve as lead and point of escalation when the manager is unavailable
- Support the ongoing Paylocity implementation and post-go-live stabilization
- Ensure accuracy and compliance across a large, multi-entity California payroll
- Collaborate with HR and Finance on payroll-related matters
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, exceptions, and system issues
Requirements
- 5 years of full-cycle payroll experience, required
- Paylocity experience, required
- Prior experience processing payroll for a workforce of 1,000 employees
- Strong understanding of California payroll law and multi-location processing
- Ability to operate independently and step into a lead capacity as needed
- ADP experience a plus (transition context)
