Cost Accounting Manager
$115-130k plus bonus

Overview
Our manufacturing client in Stockton, California is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to join their finance team as a key individual contributor. This role will focus on cost accounting, inventory analysis, and manufacturing financial support, with some exposure to FP&A activities. The ideal candidate has strong manufacturing cost accounting experience, excellent Excel skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally with operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and analyze standard costs, including material, labor, and overhead
- Perform variance analysis (PPV, usage, labor, overhead) and explain results to management
- Support month-end close activities related to inventory, COGS, and manufacturing costs
- Analyze inventory valuation, reserves, and cycle count adjustments
- Partner with operations and supply chain to improve cost visibility and operational efficiency
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc FP&A analysis as needed
- Develop and maintain detailed Excel models and reports to support decision-making
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls related to cost accounting
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of cost accounting experience
- Strong background in manufacturing environments
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, complex formulas; Power Query a plus)
- Experience with standard costing and variance analysis
- ERP system experience (JD Edwards or similar)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- FP&A experience or exposure is a plus
Salary : $115,000 - $130,000
