This role is critical for overseeing electrical and controls engineering responsibilities for large-scale automation and system integration projects. The ideal candidate will design full control systems from scratch, including hardware, software, and network architecture. This position will involve everything from component selection and schematic development to panel design, PLC programming, testing, installation, and commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Design entire control systems from blank specifications based on project requirements, including panel layout, component selection, and network architecture.
- Perform AutoCAD-based electrical drawings and documentation.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory and client-specific standards and design codes.
- Analyze and mitigate risks and hazards within system design, especially for safety-critical parts.
- Develop and implement DCS/PLC software using ladder logic and structured text (C and Visual Basic preferred).
- Conduct various system design calculations, including short-circuit analysis, harmonics analysis, load flow analysis, protective relay design, and SIL/PL ratings.
- Create full control system documentation, including design descriptions, software configuration documents, and test plans.
- Troubleshoot system failures, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions using smart diagnostic programming.
- Participate in and support system installation, commissioning, and debugging.
- Act as a technical lead and interface across disciplines, including engineering, drafting, and contractors.
- Travel up to 30% depending on project phase (typically around 10%).
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (strong preference). Other related engineering degrees may be considered with directly relevant experience.
- 5 years of experience in electrical/controls engineering covering the majority of responsibilities above.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and electrical panel/system design.
- Programming experience with ladder logic and structured text; familiarity with C or Visual Basic is a plus.
- Hands-on experience with control hardware/software from vendors like Allen-Bradley or Siemens.
- Familiar with distributed remote I/O systems and Ethernet-based communication.
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and collaborate in cross-functional teams.
- Experience working in industrial, manufacturing, or entertainment sectors is highly preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-paced environment.
- Must be able to work onsite full-time and support shift flexibility during project commissioning phases.
- Physical capability to lift, mount, and access industrial equipment during fieldwork.
Salary : $106,000 - $135,000
