Belen Consolidated Schools (BCS) is seeking an innovative, experienced, and people-centered Human Resources Director to lead our district’s HR team and champion a culture where every employee feels valued, supported, and inspired to serve students.

The HR Director will work closely with the Superintendent and leadership team to guide the district’s human capital strategy, foster positive employee relations, and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations—all while advancing the BCS mission of “To successfully prepare all students for their futures”. This is supported by a vision to be an educational model of excellence and core values of accountability, caring, enthusiasm, and teamwork.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree
- Valid New Mexico Administrator License (or eligible)
- Minimum three (3) years administrative/supervisory experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of: EEOC, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, US Department of Labor and related federal/state employment laws, NMPED certification and licensure requirements, Collective bargaining agreements, certified (NM Elevate) and classified personnel evaluation systems
- Strong leadership, communication, collaboration, progressive discipline, and conflict-resolution skills
- Understanding of BCS Board policy and regulations
- Ability to maintain confidential, unbiased, and professional HR practices FERPA and HIPPA
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Education Administration, Human Resources, Business Administration
- Three years school district HR leadership experience with effective use of technology systems for data-driven HR decision-making (Visions)
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills
- Experience with leading negotiations, progressive discipline and grievance processes
- Experience in strategic HR planning, forecasting, and policy

The HR Director serves as a trusted advisor to district leadership, fostering a culture of professionalism, equity, and continuous improvement across all employee groups.
What You’ll Do
As the Human Resources Director, you will:
- Lead HR strategic initiatives that align to the BCS mission and strategic plan.
- Partner with the Superintendent as chief advisor on personnel and workforce matters.
- Oversee recruitment, retention, and leadership development programs.
- Support administrators with evaluations, coaching, and improvement planning.
- Champion employee relations through fairness, transparency, and collaboration.
- Lead collective bargaining, grievance resolution, and compliance processes.
- Serve as an EEO/ADA Compliance Officer.
- Oversee HR operations, systems, budgets, and data management.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $113,000.00 - $121,000.00 per year
