We are seeking a compassionate, detail oriented school counselor to work with our team and help our students be successful. The ideal candidate has a background in counseling and education, is interested in working with students from diverse backgrounds and experiences, and has experience working one-on-one with students who may be struggling in one or more of the following areas: academics, socio-emotional foundations, behavior, and/or career development. Responsibilities:
- Advise students, teachers, faculty, parents, and administrative staff on academic, social, and career issues.
- Facilitate the special needs of students.
- Provide career counseling for students considering vocational training or higher education.
- Perform academic counseling for students having difficulties in school.
- Adhere to state and national regulations and guidelines for school counselors.
- Collaborate with faculty to adjust curriculum to ensure that students meet state and federal requirements.
Initial License
- $150 (non-refundable) fee; and

- Pathway 1
- Master’s degree in school counseling from a regionally accredited college or university and meeting the applicable program requirements as follows:
- A master’s degree awarded by a New Mexico college or university must incorporate the New Mexico PED-approved competencies in school counseling. OR
- A master’s degree awarded by a college or university outside of New Mexico must be for a school counseling program approved by the PED. OR
- Master’s degree in a discipline other than school counseling and 36-42 graduate hours in school counseling (which may be completed as a part of the master’s degree program or in addition to the master’s) meeting the applicable program requirements as follows:
- The 36-42 graduate hours awarded by a New Mexico college or university must incorporate the PED-approved competencies in school counseling and include a 300-hour practicum or internship in a school setting. OR
- The 36-42 graduate hours awarded by a college or university outside of New Mexico must be for a school counseling program approved by the PED and include a practicum in a school setting. AND
- Passage of the following PRAXIS exams 5422; OR
- Pathway 2
- Licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) or licensed professional clinical mental health counselor (LPCC) issued by the New Mexico Counseling & Therapy Practice Board and a minimum of 6 semester hours of graduate credit in school counseling coursework; AND
- Passage of the following PRAXIS exam 5422; OR
- Pathway 3
- National certified school counselor credential issued by the National Board for Certified Counselors; AND
- Passage of the following PRAXIS exams 5422.
- Register for for “Teacher Licensure”.

Pay: $58,857.00 - $82,841.00 per year
