Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Design Engineer with a strong background in original machine design (not just redesign work). This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on engineering environment and enjoys creating complex, custom machinery from concept through production.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop custom machinery and equipment from concept to completion
- Create detailed layouts, assemblies, and component designs using SolidWorks
- Develop machine concepts, mechanisms, and motion systems
- Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, and service teams to ensure designs are buildable and functional
- Perform design calculations, tolerance analysis, and component selection
- Support prototype builds, testing, and troubleshooting
- Continuously improve designs for performance, reliability, and manufacturability
Required Qualifications
- Education:
- Associate Degree (2-year technical degree) 7 years of machine design experience, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field)
- Proven experience in designing machinery from the ground up (not limited to modifications or redesigns)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of machine components and systems
- Experience with machine layouts and system integration
- Proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling and drawings)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with packaging, converting, or automated machinery
- Knowledge of servo systems, motion control, or high-speed equipment
- Experience working in a custom machine-building environment
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and assembly practices
