Our client, a custom metal product design firm, is seeking a Machine Design Engineer to join their team. As a Machine Design Engineer, you will be part of the Production Engineering Team supporting Manufacturing. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in planning, organization, control, integration, and completion of engineering design projects within area of assigned responsibility . Advanced knowledge of kinematics, and 4-bar and 6-bar linkages is strongly preferred. Also requires accomplished track record of mechanical/machine design with SolidWorks, metals stampings, APQP documentation and New Product Development. This position will not support candidates with visa requirements or fees. Strongest consideration will be given to candidates within commutable distance of the Milwaukee, WI metro area. This is a contract status role.

Job Title: Machine Design Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Creates product designs based on customer/company defined criteria using CAD data, drawings, specifications, and customer DVP&R.
- Develop new product concepts, methods, and materials to broaden product offerings.
- Work directly with customers and company resources to exchange data, ideas, designs, and concepts leading to robust, functional designs that are effective and manufacturable.
- Prepare budgetary and firm manufacturing estimates that capture the costs associated with manufacturing process including secondary operations, material, tooling, components, outside services, and packaging.
- Manage new projects from product design through implementation including tool design, prototyping, product validation, technical assistance during launch, and ongoing production support.
- Must be proficient at SolidWorks 3D design software.
- Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Strong background of metal stamping, FEA, and kinematics
- Strong understanding of GD&T principles and how to apply them.
- Strong understanding of 4-bar and 6-bar linkage mechanisms
