What are the responsibilities and job description for the Machine Operator position at Behlen Mfg Co.?
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Partner in Progress will also be responsible for operating purlin line processing equipment. Must obtain appropriate quality tolerances to maintain Good Iron fit. Safety and Accuracy are very important while operating the machines, selecting material, and documenting material usage. Will be required to use an overhead crane, jib hoist, and lift-truck to move both raw and finished material. This person will also be required to use a tape measure, square, protractor, and other applicable tools. Person will also be responsible for backing up other machines and equipment in department 09/11 as needed and as business levels require.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Practice safe working habits and follow safety policy, procedures, and Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
- Focus efforts to work towards continuous improvement of product quality using our ISO 9001:2008 Systems
- Responsible for the safety and training of others, including one assistant
- Complies with all documented procedures and employee handbook.
- Operate controls on CNC programmed machine
- Responsible for the quality and quantity of the finished product
- Will be required to work independently with limited supervision
- May be assigned other work, as needed by team leaders—such as layout, Alltra, etc.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining a working team environment.
- Maintains good housekeeping.
- Performs routine Preventative Maintenance on associated equipment.
- Responsible for any other tasks assigned by the Team Leader, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Mechanical ability to change rollers on roll forming operation
- Ability to be licensed to operate overhead crane, combi-lift, & forklift
- Capability to operate computer to edit and create part programs
- Knowledge of roll forming operations a plus
- Must have good math skills
- Will be responsible for good housekeeping in the area
- Ability to read blueprints and work with both metric and standard numbers
- Should be able to lift to 60 lbs. about 40% of the time
