Our client is seeking an experienced Aircraft Upholstery Technician with strong expertise in aircraft interiors, sewing, upholstery fabrication, and custom carpet installation. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting blueprints, fabricating and installing seat covers, panels, curtains, and interior assemblies while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
High School Diploma or GED required. 4 years of upholstery experience including 2 years in aircraft upholstery or 6 years in commercial upholstery. Advanced knowledge of upholstery, sewing processes, and materials. Strong experience in custom carpet fabrication and installation. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Computer literate and familiar with material tracking systems. Ability to work in confined spaces, climb ladders, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift
Position Summary:
Work independently to design, fabricate, and install upholstery and trim items in aircraft interiors. Support the Shop Lead by overseeing projects, mentoring team members, and ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fabricate and install seat covers, curtains, panels, and interior assemblies
- Interpret engineering drawings and material specifications
- Sew and install panel covers while meeting safety and quality standards
- Cut and install advanced custom carpets with unique patterns
- Utilize the Corridor system for parts tracking, squawks, and work sign-off
- Support lead responsibilities and coordinate assigned technicians when needed
- Conduct safety audits and maintain shop equipment and JSAs
- Mentor and train junior technicians
- Drive process improvements using Lean Six Sigma tools
- Ensure compliance with safety, 5S, housekeeping, and aircraft interior protection policies
