Performs intermediate skilled clerical work entering warrants into a records management system; receives, processes and handles VCIN/NCIC related tasks in the Communications Center such as VCIN entries, modifications, clear/cancel records from the files as needed. Exceptional customer service skills must be excised to assist a wide range of people. This position must maintain confidentiality. Work is fast-paced and diverse. Assists Communications Officers as needed. Work is performed under regular supervision.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Enters warrants into the records management system.
- Runs subject’s information through VCIN and enters subject into VCIN and NCIC.
- Fills out warrant packet and places warrant and VCIN information in packet.
- Maintains extradition forms, wanted persons and protective order forms.
- Checks active warrants daily; sends and receives warrants to/from other jurisdictions; arranges extraditions. Maintains all files for VCIN.
- Completes reports for Commonwealth’s Attorney.
- Communicates with the various court clerks, other jurisdictions, and the magistrate on matters regarding warrants and protective orders.
- Assist with VCIN audit preparations.
- Performs monthly validations for State Police on certain entries.
- Order supplies for the Communications Center.
- Assist communications officers, deputies and town police with any questions about warrants, protective orders, etc.
- Prepares files for destruction and keeps records of how files for accreditation and to meet Virginia State Police requirements.
- Researches various data bases to locate addresses, etc. for wanted persons.
- Performs and accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested by management.
- Participates in employee meetings and training as needed.
- Performs special projects as assigned.
- Meets attendance requirements and maintains the highest level of dependability.
- Consistently demonstrates ability to respond to changing situations in a flexible manner in order to meet current needs, and reprioritizes work as necessary.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work cooperatively in a diverse professional team and / or independently. Ability to establish / maintain effective working relationships with employees, county officials, vendors, and the general public. Strong quality and service minded.
Ability to speak clearly; ability to hear/understand all audio communications systems (i.e. radio, telephone, etc) within the confines of the communications center; capable of accurately viewing a computer screen (i. E. Cad, ANI/ALI, teletype, telephone, etc.) from a seated position as not to interfere with performing other essential duties; skill in typing accurately on a standard keyboard at a rate of no less than 30 wpm; ability to perform assigned duties on a daily basis with no deviation under extended high levels of stress.
This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects; work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, feeling, and repetitive motions; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work.
Subject to a complete criminal history background search and drug screening with acceptable results. Requires an extensive background investigation including a polygraph examination.
Worker may be required to work beyond a normal schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime to meet the needs of the department.
