As an experienced Shipboard IT (SBIT) Specialist (Navy Networks Test Laboratory Administrator) at BPMI, you will be in a project-oriented position responsible for the oversight, development, deployment, and life cycle management of the Navy Networks Test Laboratory (NNTL) network facility. You will ensure the integration, interoperability, and cybersecurity of the NNTL in accordance with established engineering, quality, and security requirements, working closely with suppliers, internal engineering and technical staff, and government stakeholders. This role also includes managing network hardware and software, performing network administration tasks, completing routine and emergent maintenance, troubleshooting and resolving issues, maintaining the security authorization, and implementing improvements to enhance performance and security.

Essential Duties:
- Perform daily administration of the network facility:
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Perform regular network maintenance and upgrades including patches, service packs, and security configurations.
- Develop system design and performance specifications, test requirements, and security implementation of network and communication hardware and software.
- Develop and maintain detailed documentation including procedures, system diagrams, and configuration records in compliance with quality requirements.
- Perform project oversight and follow of supplier design, supplier testing, and supplier procedure development.
- Review, verify, and approve supplier design submittals including procedures for installation, operations, and troubleshooting of network hardware and software products.
- Support implementation and documentation of cybersecurity compliance with government requirements.
- Communicate extensively internally as well as with external customer and supplier personnel.
- Research and prepare written technical recommendations on network hardware and software products to support the network facility.
- Develop and justify estimates to support budgeting for network upgrades and improvements multiple years in advance.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology or closely related degree from an accredited college or university.
- Six (6) or more years of relevant experience.
- Fourteen (14) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
- Experience with any of the following is preferred:
- Network administration
- Virtualization (VMWare)
- Network communication architecture
- Configuration and use of network firewalls
- Backup and recovery software methodologies
- Support of IT networks
- Knowledge of network hardware
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity compliance
- Demonstrated ability of effective written and oral communication skills and creative problem-solving capabilities is strongly desired.
