As a Computer/Telecommunications Technician at BPMI, you will work under limited supervision and perform moderately complex technical functions to support company operations in areas including but not limited to providing and coordinating Information Technology (IT) user services to BPMI for the effective use and operation of IT systems, software, and telecommunications hardware. The Computer/Telecommunications Technician also performs system administrative tasks necessary for the operation of IT software and network/system level hardware in a networked environment, consistent with program security rules and regulations.

As a Computer/Telecommunications Technician at BPMI, you will work under limited supervision and perform moderately complex technical functions to support company operations in areas including but not limited to providing and coordinating Information Technology (IT) user services to BPMI for the effective use and operation of IT systems, software, and telecommunications hardware. The Computer/Telecommunications Technician also performs system administrative tasks necessary for the operation of IT software and network/system level hardware in a networked environment, consistent with program security rules and regulations.
Essential Duties:
- Troubleshoot and resolve IT hardware and system performance issues.
- Provide user guidance and assistance with IT system, software and audio-video (AV) or videoconferencing operation.
- Provide user support with all telecommunication or video conference events, including room setup, AV and user interface (UI) equipment setup, dry runs, presentation tips and best practices, and acceptance testing. Provide hands-on support and troubleshooting for select large videoconferences.
- Interface and assist in coordination and oversight of AV/videoconferencing subcontractors performing planned maintenance or troubleshooting/repair of AV/videoconferencing equipment.
- Provide support to Information & Systems Support team and/or directly perform work on Media Center operations in accordance with NNL High Risk Procedures and/or Standard Operating Procedures.
- Provide support to the Information & Systems Support team and/or directly perform work on mobile devices in accordance with NNL Standard Operating Procedures.
- Aid in the development of computer hardware and software, smart cards, and peripherals to new hires and existing employees, including password management, user instructions/training, and inventory record-keeping.
- Support facility site upkeep including developing and performing planned maintenance of IT equipment and cabling in common spaces, including conference rooms and auditoriums.
- Provide basic Tier 1 support ticket response, collaborating with appropriate personnel to delegate response, or performing direct customer service response.
- May perform special projects and other IT duties as assigned.

- Associate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering Science, Engineering Technology or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
- A minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience (i.e., troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining telecommunications hardware and software).
- Eight (8) or more years of completed education and/or direct relevant experience (e.g., Government or Military program IT and/or Telecommunication experience) may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
- Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
- Fundamental knowledge of IT and telecommunication principles.
- General knowledge of telecommunications and computer hardware (i.e., computers, firmware, mobile devices, AV equipment, videoconferencing equipment, media, cabling, security protocols) and software (i.e., operating systems, desktop software, diagnostics).
- Familiarity with company Operating Instructions, practices, and procedures.
- Knowledge of program / IT security procedures.
