Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Shipping Operations Supervisor to oversee the daily activities of our shipping dock department. The ideal candidate will have experience in supervising a team, managing inventory, and ensuring timely shipments.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise the Shipping Crew: Lead and guide the shipping crew to ensure efficient loading times and adhere to quality standards.
- Schedule Workload: Prioritize shipments, communicate with scheduling and corporate teams as needed, and manage workloads effectively.
- Operate Equipment: Safely operate spotter tractors to move trailers in and out of docks at the plant.
- Manage Inventory: Review all shipments prior to billing, execute billing and invoicing functions, and prepare necessary reports for the accounting department.
Requirements:
- Leadership Skills: Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to employees in the shipping department.
- Communication Skills: Effectively communicate with scheduling, corporate, and other teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Inventory Management: Monitor labor costs, pallet costs, and inventory levels, making adjustments as necessary.
