Housekeeper – Beartooth Rehab & Nursing

Position Purpose
The primary purpose of the Housekeeper is to carry out the day-to-day operations of the housekeeping and laundry department in accordance with all current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations. This position ensures the facility is maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary manner at all times.
Job Requirements
- Previous housekeeping experience in a long-term care setting preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to complete all hiring requirements, including a criminal background check
- Completion of new hire orientation and participation in ongoing in-services and training
- Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Proficiency with standard housekeeping equipment, tools, and cleaning chemicals
- Willingness to follow all federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies, including dress code, attendance, and professionalism
- Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including weekends and holidays
- Willingness to participate in and respond professionally to state and federal surveys
- Ability to perform physical tasks associated with housekeeping: standing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, reaching overhead, lifting/carrying 30 lbs, and working with chemicals, odors, dust/debris, temperature changes, and potentially infectious materials (or able to be reasonably accommodated)
- Ability to cope with emotional and mental stress related to working with geriatric, mentally ill, dementia, and disabled residents
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, stay on task, and take initiative
- Commitment to maintaining an atmosphere of warmth, cheerfulness, enthusiasm, and compassion toward residents
Principal Accountabilities
- Perform routine and as-needed cleaning, sanitization, and disinfection of resident rooms, common areas, offices, and applicable resident equipment according to facility schedules and best practices
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces frequently throughout the day
- Refill soap, paper towel, and toilet paper dispensers regularly
- Monitor housekeeping supply levels and notify the Housekeeping/Laundry Supervisor when supplies need to be restocked
- Report maintenance or equipment concerns promptly to the Maintenance Director and/or Administrator
- Attend staff and department meetings and complete required in-service training
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
