Job Purpose
The Activities Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide a robust, engaging, and therapeutic activity program for residents in both Assisted Living and Memory Care settings. This role works closely with the Life Enrichment Director to plan and facilitate activities that meet residents’ social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual needs.
This is a high-energy, creative role requiring enthusiasm, positivity, and a passion for helping residents have fun and enjoy their day. The Activities Assistant must be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, including planning community events and outings.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Ensure scheduled activities occur as posted and in a timely manner.
- Engage with residents enthusiastically and compassionately, adapting to their abilities, cognition, and interests.
- Gather and escort residents to and from activities.
- Document resident participation, progress notes, and weekly family updates.
- Observe and report any changes in residents’ participation, behavior, or physical/emotional status to the Life Enrichment or Health and Wellness Director.
- Provide encouragement and reminders for resident participation in both group and individual activities.
- Assist residents requiring extra guidance or support during activities.
- Keep activity areas organized, neat, and accessible.
- Assist residents with loading/unloading from the community van or bus.
- Deliver mail and packages as needed.
- Promote teamwork within and across departments.
- Collaborate with care staff to support residents’ daily needs and activity participation.
- Communicate professionally and effectively with residents, families, and coworkers.
- Plan, prepare, and facilitate crafts, games, events, and activities that are safe, inclusive, and engaging for seniors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Eager to learn and be part of a strong, collaborative team.
- Successful completion of background and motor vehicle driving record checks.
- Pass routine TB test.
- Ability to use general office equipment and computer systems as required.
- Demonstrates dependable and regular attendance.
- Ability to communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team.
- Familiarity and willingness to work with elderly individuals, including those with dementia.

Working Conditions
- In-person position within a senior living community environment.
- May involve exposure to infectious waste, diseases, and various conditions—use of PPE is required when applicable.
- Frequent interaction with residents, family members, and community guests.
- Must be able to drive residents to and from outings safely.
Physical Requirements
- Must have ability to lift and move over 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull throughout the day.
- Must be able to assist residents with mobility as needed.

Hours and Dress Code
Non-exempt, hourly position. Business casual or activity-appropriate attire that maintains a professional, approachable appearance.
