Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Desktop Engineer with 8 years of hands-on expertise in managing, supporting, and optimizing end-user computing environments. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in desktop engineering, endpoint management, system imaging, hardware/software troubleshooting, automation, and enterprise device management tools.
This role is 100% onsite in Virginia and requires excellent technical, communication, and customer service skills.
Key Responsibilities
End-User Support & Troubleshooting
Provide advanced desktop, laptop, and peripheral support for on-site users
Troubleshoot OS, application, network, and hardware-related issues
Resolve complex technical issues escalated from Level 1/2 support teams
Support Windows 10/11, macOS (if required), and mobile devices
Desktop Engineering & Administration
Configure, deploy, and manage desktops/laptops using enterprise imaging tools
Perform OS installations, upgrades, patches, and software deployments
Develop and maintain standard workstation images (SCCM/Intune/MDT)
Implement group policies (GPO) and endpoint configuration standards
Optimize device performance and ensure system stability
Endpoint Management (EMM/UEM)
Utilize SCCM, Intune, JAMF, or other endpoint tools for:
Application packaging & deployment
Patch management
Compliance policies
Device inventory and reporting
Technology Operations
Support Active Directory (Users/Groups/OU Management)
Manage VPN, SSO, MFA, and endpoint security tools
Troubleshoot network connectivity (LAN/WAN/Wi-Fi) issues
Coordinate with server, network, and security teams to resolve complex issues
Hardware Management
Setup, configure, repair, and replace desktops, laptops, monitors, and peripherals
Support conference room AV, printers, scanners, and docking stations
Maintain inventory of hardware/software assets
Documentation & Process Improvements
Create SOPs, knowledge base articles, and troubleshooting guides
Recommend improvements for desktop standards and operational efficiency
Assist with audits, compliance, and security requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications
8 years of experience in desktop engineering, end-user computing, or IT support
Strong expertise in Windows 10/11, system imaging, and device provisioning
Hands-on experience with SCCM, Intune, MDT, JAMF, AAD/AD
Strong knowledge of Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, VPN
Experience supporting Office 365, Teams, Outlook, OneDrive
Ability to troubleshoot complex hardware/software/network issues
Experience with endpoint security tools (AV, DLP, EDR solutions)
Scripting knowledge (PowerShell preferred)
Strong communication and customer service skills
Ability to work onsite 5 days a week in Virginia
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
CompTIA A , Network , or Security certifications
Microsoft Modern Desktop Administrator (MD-100/MD-101)
Experience with enterprise migrations (Windows 10/11 rollout, hardware refreshes)
Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM tools
Experience supporting Mac devices
