Position: Senior Software Architect

Location: Full remote, but if within 45 miles from Peoria, IL, they would need to come onsite.

Duration: 3-6 month contract to hire

After discussing internally, unfortunately, we will not be moving forward.  While his experience looked great on paper, we didn't get a good sense of his technical problem-solving and solutioning capabilities during the interview.  His answers during the interview were often vague or over-generalized and didn't demonstrate the level of technical depth we expected based on his resume.

For this role, we're looking for someone who has strong technical knowledge that can be applied at an architectural level.  They need to be able to work through complex problems, evaluate tradeoffs, and design practical solutions that meet business requirements.  We didn't see enough of that during the interview to feel he was the right fit." 

Must haves:

• 5 years’ experience
• Extensive knowledge in network design, application development, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations.
• Strong understanding of coding methods, project management.
• High level of understanding of technical expertise in systems analysis and programming with basic knowledge of the business environment
• Knowledge of DevOps processes and CI/CD pipelines

Summary:

• This is a collaborative, staff-augmentation role. The Senior Software Architect works closely with internal engineering teams and senior technical leadership, taking ownership of day-to-day technical execution and design decisions while aligning with broader architectural direction.
• Designs and implements features and functionality for modern, cloud native web applications.  This includes proof of concept, development, testing and documenting software specifications throughout the project lifecycle. Communicates designs, technology strategy and patterns, coordinating work amongst internal teams. Provides technical support to team members throughout implementation and support activities. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Develops and implements system functional and non-functional requirements in collaboration with senior technical leadership
• Designs and documents API level specifications and data models
• Collaborates and coordinates with Software Engineers and Software/Enterprise Architects
• Advises on high-risk design decisions prior to implementation
• Collaborate with analysts and designers in the development and initiation of new software programs and applications
• Research, document, and implement program requirements and specifications
• Defines high-level migration plans to address the gaps between the current and future systems
• Participates in system design activities to ensure solutions exhibit high levels of performance security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate reusability and reliability
• Leads analysis of the current systems environment and recommends solutions for improvement

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Behaviors Required:

• Bachelor's degree in computer science management, information systems, or related field; plus five to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Knowledge of the following technical disciplines: network design, application development, middleware, servers and storage, database management, and operations
• Strong analytical, problem solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
