Job Title: Payment Poster

Job Location: Loudoun Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Ashburn, VA

The Payment Poster is responsible for processing payments in the department. This position will also be responsible for being able to see trends in insurance payments, identifying patterns, and contacting insurance companies for resolution.

Responsibilities:

Post all manual and electronic payments to the patient’s accounts.
Perform reconciliations to the general ledger and other month-end procedures.
Identify patterns of overpayments and bring them to the attention of appropriate supervisory personnel; identify errors, inaccurate payments, and posting errors and resolve them accordingly.
Review insurance remittance advice for accuracy.
Lockbox management.
Navigating Payment Portals and Virtual Credit Cards
Ensure all monthly, weekly, and daily deadlines are met in the cash applications process.
Research unidentified payments and/or recoupment to determine appropriate resolution.
Notify appropriate personnel of trends or problems with specific payers.
Identify and coordinate remittance issues with accounts receivable by departmental staff.

Required Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
2 Years of payment posting experience in a healthcare, medical or dental setting required.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally.
Detail-oriented, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
2 plus years of experience with MS Office (Outlook email, calendars, Excel, SharePoint, MS Teams) and with billing software. Must be computer literate.
Professional phone skills.
Ability to work overtime as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

1 year of AR experience preferred.
1 year of billing experience preferred.

Special Requirements:

Working on-site is essential to the function of this position.
Must be able to sit up to 80% of the time.
Physical requirements include sitting, stooping, and standing for extended periods of time.
