What are the responsibilities and job description for the Litigation Assistant position at Beacon Hill?
Reputable Boston law firm is seeking a full-time (in-person) legal administrative assistant to become part of our team. Successful candidates must have a minimum of four years of litigation experience, have a positive go to attitude, and enjoy working in a small environment.
Responsibilities:
* Assist with preparation and editing of pleadings and discovery in federal and state court matters as well as arbitration and FINRA proceedings
* Familiar with Massachusetts Rule 9A procedures
* Familiar with MA state court and Federal Court efiling procedures
* Proofread all work for both content and context
* Drafting of letters and templates for discovery
* Maintain office calendar with case related deadlines
* Create, organize and maintain client files both in electronic and paper filing systems
* Familiar with Westlaw, Pacer and state court docket searches
* Assembling and organization of hearing and trial binders
* Assembling of deposition exhibits
* Liaison with courts and litigation vendors, including process servers and couriers
* General administrative support tasks including phone coverage, handling incoming mail, scanning, putting together supply list as well as putting away supplies once delivered
* Archiving closed matters
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree
* 4 years' litigation experience
* Willingness and flexibility to work overtime, and occasionally on short notice
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and track extensive details
* Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients and all levels of personnel and handle confidential information sensitively and discreetly
* Strong ability to maintain high standards, use good judgment and seek out ways to contribute and anticipate needs
* Ability to work interpedently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, while demonstrating initiative, diplomacy and tact when under pressure
* Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
