What are the responsibilities and job description for the Financial Accountant position at Beacon Hill?
Overview:
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC to identify a Financial Accountant for a fully onsite role supporting day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close activities, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in a structured environment with opportunities to support budgeting and reporting processes.
Perform daily accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense processing, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
Support month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery of financial statements.
Assist with preparing financial reports, schedules, and analyses for management review.
Contribute to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis as needed (financial analyst exposure).
Maintain compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and audit requirements.
Support grant tracking, fund accounting, indirect rate application, or restricted/unrestricted funds management (for federal/nonprofit environments).
Assist with ad hoc projects and process improvements.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Strong understanding of GAAP principles and core accounting functions.
Proficiency with Excel and general accounting/finance software.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working in a federal contracting or nonprofit organization.
Familiarity with fund accounting, cost allocations, and grant/award compliance.
Exposure to federally funded program reporting or indirect cost structures.
