Definition:

The SLPA is authorized to provide language and speech development and remediation services as prescribed, directed, and supervised by an ASHA certified and CA SLPAB licensed Speech-Language Pathologist. Works under immediate supervision of the Speech Language Program Director or Supervisor at Beacon Day School. An employee of this classification meets guidelines developed by the American Speech–Language-Hearing Association for Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, as well as California State requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities of this class include but are not limited to:

• Follows documented treatment plans and protocols developed by the Speech Pathologist Supervisor;
• Accurately collects and records observational and objective data per department protocols;
• Prepares therapy materials and/or equipment for use in therapy activities;
• Works with augmentative communication devices and equipment;
• Maintains schedule, student charts/records, and graphs or otherwise displays student performance data per department protocols.
• Performs other duties and responsibilities.

• Proper use of and care for the materials, supplies and equipment employed in performing duties and responsibilities;
• Efficient use of computers and internet resources in the completion of assigned duties;
• Ability to communicate and work effectively with Beacon Day School Staff;
• Ability to plan accordingly and meet deadlines;

• Ability to work collaboratively and professionally;
• Ability to follow Beacon Day School policies and procedures;
• Ability to work in an office/educational setting environment on a daily, full-time basis;

Minimum Qualifications:

• SLPA certification is required;
• High School Diploma is required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred;
• Experience working with Children with Autism and related disorders;
