Duties

• Prepare and prosecute patent applications involving computer-related and electrical engineering technologies

• File and prosecute patent applications before the USPTO and international patent offices

• Manage patent application processes in jurisdictions including China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan

• Coordinate and direct foreign associates in both English and Mandarin Chinese

• Conduct invention disclosure meetings in English and Mandarin

• Review and analyze sophisticated invention disclosures and technical documentation

• Translate patent applications and intellectual property materials between Chinese and English

• Perform prior art searches and patentability analyses

• Advise clients regarding intellectual property strategy and patent portfolio development

• Represent clients in private intellectual property matters and proceedings before government agencies

• Collaborate with attorneys, inventors, engineers, and technical professionals on complex patent matters

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Patent Attorney

• Strong experience handling patent prosecution matters involving software, computer science, or electrical engineering technologies

• Juris Doctor degree required

• Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering required

• Licensed and in good standing before at least one state bar association

• Licensed and in good standing before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

• Fluency in spoken and written Mandarin Chinese required

• Strong knowledge of computer systems, electrical engineering, software technologies, and technical innovation

• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Ability to work collaboratively within sophisticated intellectual property teams
