Duties

• Handle all phases of insurance coverage analysis and related civil litigation in Illinois state and federal courts.

• Analyze complex insurance policies involving commercial, personal, and specialty coverage matters.

• Draft comprehensive insurance coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, disclaimer letters, and other coverage-related correspondence.

• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.

• Participate in depositions, mediations, hearings, oral arguments, and other court proceedings.

• Advise insurance carriers regarding policy interpretation, coverage obligations, litigation strategy, and exposure analysis.

• Monitor underlying litigation involving defective products, mass torts, environmental contamination, and other high-exposure claims.

• Collaborate with insurance adjusters, claims professionals, and corporate representatives throughout litigation.

• Communicate regularly with clients and opposing counsel regarding case strategy and developments.

• Conduct legal research and provide strategic recommendations on emerging insurance coverage issues.

• Manage multiple litigation matters while maintaining exceptional client service and meeting court deadlines.

• Participate in business development initiatives and cultivate long-term professional relationships.

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of insurance coverage analysis and/or insurance defense litigation experience.

• Active admission to practice law in Illinois.

• Experience litigating insurance coverage disputes in state or federal court.

• Strong understanding of insurance policy interpretation and coverage analysis.

• Experience drafting coverage opinions, reservation of rights letters, and litigation documents.

• Excellent legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.

• Outstanding interpersonal and communication abilities.

• Previous experience in a billable-hour environment preferred.

• Ability to independently manage assignments while working collaboratively within litigation teams.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to exceptional client service.
