Role Overview
The role will work closely with the Strategy & Control lead, providing direct support across key management and operational tasks. It combines transversal support functions across budget monitoring, organizational oversight, performance tracking, executive report and involvement in risk and control processes.
The position will have a strong focus on Risk Control Assurance (RCA) execution and contributing at the same time to enhance the Strategy & Control function, driving efficiency, improving processes, and leveraging data and AI-enabled tools to optimize manual activities and increase scalability.
Key Responsibilities
Risk Control Assurance
- Support the execution of IT and Information Security risk management activities for the New York Office, aligned with the BBVA Group Non-Financial Risk (NFR) framework
- Contribute to the annual risk assessment process, including inherent and residual risk analysis, control evaluation, and remediation tracking
- Coordinate with Second Line of Defense (Risk Control Specialists) to support risk oversight and regulatory alignment
- Monitor key risk indicators (KRIs) and support escalation of relevant risks and issues
- Support control testing activities, issue tracking, and remediation follow-up
- Contribute to regulatory and audit processes (NYDFS, NIST, FFIEC), ensuring proper documentation and traceability
- Maintain and update control frameworks, documentation, and supporting materials
Budgeting & Financial Monitoring
- Support the budgeting process (BAU and SDA initiatives), including planning, tracking, and variance analysis
- Assist in ongoing budget monitoring and reporting, ensuring alignment with priorities and resource allocation
Performance through KPIs
- Analyze Engineering activity through KPIs, ensuring alignment with business objectives
- Provide insights to support decision-making, performance optimization, and identification of risks or inefficiencies. Support alignment between local and global reporting frameworks
Organizational Structure & Workforce
- Track organizational structure, including headcount and open roles (internal and external)
- Support workforce planning and vacancy follow-up using tools such as Workday
- Maintain visibility on resource allocation and organizational changes
Reporting & Presentations
- Prepare internal and external presentations, translating data and insights into clear, structured materials for senior management
- Support recurring and ad-hoc reporting needs across Strategy & Control and Engineering
Process Efficiency & AI Enablement
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual workload across reporting and control activities
- Leverage tools such as ChatGPT, Gemini, or similar to automate analysis, reporting, and documentation tasks
- Contribute to evolving the Strategy & Control function towards a more efficient, data-driven, and scalable operating model
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or a related discipline
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in IT risk, control assurance and business management functions
- Solid understanding of risk and control frameworks (NIST, ISO, FFIEC, NYDFS) is a plus
- Practical experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Gemini) to improve productivity and automate tasks is a must
- Experience within financial services or a regulated environment is preferred
- Experience supporting budgeting, financial tracking, or business performance monitoring
- Familiarity with workforce management tools (e.g., Workday)
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to structure and interpret data effectively
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate across multiple topics in a structured and organized manner
- Languages: Spanish is a plus
Certifications
- Relevant certifications (CISA, CISM, CRISC, or similar) are a plus, but not required

With respect to this position in our Houston Office, the expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to salary and a generous employee benefits package, successful candidates are eligible to receive a discretionary bonus.
