Bayou Pain and Spine is a private Pain Management practice with one physician in search of an experienced and enthusiastic Front office / Receptionist. Must have great written and verbal communication skills. This is a full-time position. POSITION SUMMARY: The receptionist represents the face of the entire office. The successful candidate must be able to handle a fast-paced environment that is forever changing its landscape. The receptionist is responsible for the general flow of patients in and out of the office which includes confirming all new patient paperwork has been completed, obtaining new insurance information, insurance verification, notifying providers when patients are ready for their appointments, collection for services rendered and confirming/ filling schedule.
ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES: (may include but not limited to):
- Answering Phones
- Greets patients. Inquire with each patient if there are any changes to the address, email, phone numbers or insurance and update accordingly.
- Updating and scanning patient medical records
- Updating patient demographics
- Entering insurance information
- Faxing and scanning
- Insurance verifications – Verify insurance for active coverage, history and current max available.
- Scheduling appointments
- Checking in/out patients
- Collecting co-pays, balances, and reconciling daily batch
- Correspondence with other providers
- Confirming appointments
- Stocking and replenishing supplies
- Schedule procedures
- Send medical record request, obtain, and process records appropriately
- Maintains patient confidentiality and takes every precaution to secure electronic Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Prior experience required
- Prior experience with EHR software
- Skilled in the use of basic office equipment such as: telephones, calculators, copier, fax, computers and computer software (MS Excel, Word, Practice Management software).
- Ability to be professional and maintain composure when dealing with stressful situations.
- Ability to prioritize, organize and complete tasks timely.
- Ability to accept constructive criticism.
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate and express thoughts and ideas clearly and competently.
- Ability to quickly grasp relevant concepts regarding duties and responsibilities.
