About the Team and the Role
Client is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional to join our International Shipping Operations team. This team supports the control, compliance, and day-to-day performance of hub operations. This role is based in Glendale Heights, IL and supports hub operations across Chicago and Toronto.
This role will focus on vendor execution and be responsible for ensuring strong day-to-day discipline, issue resolution, and consistent performance. This person will work closely with on-site vendor teams, challenge execution gaps, and drive follow-through on agreed actions, while maintaining clear visibility on performance, risks, and recurring issues.
The role also supports adherence to established processes and standards, particularly across export controls, dangerous goods handling, parcel inspection, and exception handling. Success in this role depends on the ability to influence vendor teams and drive execution through structured follow-up and challenge, without formal ownership or direct authority.
Occasional travel to Toronto may be required based on business needs.
What You Will Accomplish
- Work closely with vendor teams to challenge execution gaps, drive follow-up on operational misses, and ensure agreed actions are completed
- Coordinate with vendors, carriers, customer support, and internal stakeholders to support stable operations
- Influence vendor teams to maintain execution discipline and adherence to standards without formal authority
- Conduct regular on-site observations to validate execution and improve operational visibility
- Maintain clear visibility of operational misses and recurring issues
What You Will Bring
- Experience working with vendors, operational partners, or cross-functional stakeholders to follow up on execution issues
- Experience in small parcel logistics, sortation, hub operations, or a similar operational environment
- Strong attention to detail and a disciplined approach to follow-through
- Ability to spot early signs of performance issues and operational deviations before they escalate
- Practical judgment in a fast-moving operations environment
- Strong analytical aptitude and sound problem-solving skills
- Must have experience leveraging advanced Excel tools (i.e., pivot tables, formulas, etc.) and AI tools (i.e., ChatGPT)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong preference for experience in Lean Six Sigma, SQL, dangerous goods handling (IATA), and export compliance controls
- Experience in vendor management or working closely with external partners to drive execution
- Experience in export or cross-border logistics
- Comfortable working in a warehouse or hub environment and spending time on-site as needed
