What are the responsibilities and job description for the Android Developer position at BayOne Solutions?
Senior Android Engineer
Location: John's Creek, GA — Onsite (3 days/week)
Employment: Contract-to-Hire (conversion to FTE based on performance)
About the Role
You'll join a senior pod building native Android experiences for one of America's largest retail platforms. This is not a heads-down ticket role — it's a hands-on technical leadership seat. You'll sit with product and business stakeholders, drive design decisions, and push the engineering bar across the team. We're looking for an engineer who walks in already knowing what good looks like.
What You'll Do
- Architect and build production Android features used by millions of customers daily
- Own end-to-end delivery: design, code, review, release, and post-release monitoring
- Drive technical direction within your pod and mentor other engineers (onshore offshore)
- Partner directly with product, business, and API teams to shape solutions — not just consume tickets
- Embed AI-driven workflows into your day-to-day delivery (we use Gemini; we expect agentic, systems-level usage — not just code-completion)
- Navigate the realities of App Store distribution: backwards compatibility, phased rollouts, versioning constraints
What You Bring (Required)
- 7 years building native Android applications in production at scale
- Expert-level Kotlin and strong Java; deep familiarity with the modern Android stack (Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, Hilt, Room)
- Demonstrated experience handling App Store release cycles — backwards compatibility, version fragmentation, "you can't unship it" constraints
- Applied AI/agentic workflow experience — not a course, not Copilot autocomplete. You've built or actively used systems where AI runs a task, you review/approve, and the loop continues. Examples: AI-driven refactors, automated test generation pipelines, SDLC orchestration
- Onshore presence skills: comfort in business and product rooms, ability to lead conversations, not just join them
- Track record of pushing engineering quality on a team — code reviews, mentoring, raising the bar
What Sets You Apart: AI Enabled Engineer
- Built or contributed to internal developer tools, skills, or AI agent systems
- Experience integrating mobile clients with complex backend API ecosystems
- Performance optimization for low-end Android devices (relevant for retail customer base)
- Familiarity with retail, e-commerce, or high-traffic consumer applications
What We're NOT Looking For
- "I used Copilot to write functions" — that's table stakes, not the bar
- API/backend engineers pivoting to mobile — this role needs deep native experience
- Strong individual contributors without leadership presence — this is an FTE-track senior seat
Salary : $58 - $60
