It is the Mission of Bay Path Regional Vocational Technical High School to facilitate current, integrated, and rigorous academic and technical vocational programs that prepare students for the ever-changing world of employment and post-secondary education; to provide a school culture that meets the diverse needs of our student body for safety and mental wellness; and to foster student confidence, professionalism, and life-long learning skills that will enable them to become contributing members of our communities. REPORTS TO: Vocational Director POSITION SUMMARY: As an educator at Bay Path RVTHS you will be expected to provide rigorous instruction to the diverse population of all students in your classroom. You will be expected to align your teaching to the district and state curriculum; to regularly assess students for learning comprehension and to modify your teaching to ensure that students are learning; to provide a classroom that is conducive to the learning needs of all students, especially students who are learning English and students with disabilities. Being an educator at Bay Path will require that you have patience, perseverance, creativity, excellent content knowledge, and a true desire to prepare all students for successful lives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following: Develop and implement a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students. Assist in the procurement and purchase of approved equipment and supplies to support students in the Chapter 74 Diesel Technology program. Deliver effective instruction with a strong focus on the Massachusetts Vocational Technical Curriculum Diesel Technology standards to students of varying abilities and skill levels. Responsible for effective techniques of classroom management/discipline and behavior reinforcement. Fulfill department teaming roles such as a mentoring partnership with a professional status colleague. Participate effectively in school-wide task forces and academic-vocational integration activities. Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Performs any other duties as assigned by the Superintendent and/or their designee. QUALIFICATIONS: Experience providing instruction in the areas of Diesel Technology or related subject(s). Advanced credentials in the area of Diesel Technology. Experience in the area of Bilingual/Bi-cultural education. Must be authorized to work in the United States. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent required Massachusetts Chapter 74 Licensure in Diesel Technology preferred or be eligible to attain a preliminary vocational technical teacher license. Possession of current ASE certification in at least one area of diesel technology. Five years of full-time employment experience directly related to the subject matter. SEI Endorsement OR ability to achieve SEI endorsement within one year of hire. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Diesel Technology Instructor does not supervise any staff at Bay Path. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a 10 month position This position is part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Bay Path Teachers Association and the SWCRVSDC. SALARY: $59,152.95 - $105,795.77 (step as appropriate on Teacher’s salary schedule pursuant to the BPTA CBA). PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The physical demands and the work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be able to move around the workshop to demonstrate techniques, operate machinery, or assist students with hands-on work. This includes bending, lifting, and operating diesel engines or related components. Diesel Instructors may work with heavy machinery, engines, and various tools. The position requires manual dexterity and the ability to handle mechanical tools and instruments. Diesel Instructors are exposed to heat, to whole body vibration and potential hazards like fumes, oils, grease, and noise. Capable of hearing and speaking to understand and exchange information. Speaks clearly so others understand. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
