HR Generalist (Part-Time)
HR is one of those functions that gets called when something goes wrong.
The best HR people spend most of their time making sure it doesn't.

What's going on here
This is a part-time HR Generalist role — roughly 20 hours per week — supporting a team that's grown to the point where the people side of the business needs dedicated attention. Not a full department. Not an army of specialists. One person who can handle the breadth of what HR actually involves day-to-day and knows when to escalate and when to just handle it.
What fills your time
Some days it's onboarding a new hire and making sure their first week isn't a mess. Other days it's sitting with a manager who's struggling with a performance conversation and helping them find the words. Some weeks it's benefits open enrollment. Others it's updating a policy that hasn't been touched in four years and probably should have been.
The through-line:
- Support the full employee lifecycle — from offer letter to offboarding
- Be the first point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and the occasional conflict that needs a thoughtful person in the room
- Keep HR processes running — onboarding, compliance, recordkeeping, benefits administration
- Partner with managers on performance conversations, documentation, and development
- Stay current on employment law and flag anything the business needs to know
- Help build the kind of workplace where people want to stay
Who you are
You've done this before — at least a few years of generalist HR work where you weren't siloed into just one function. You know enough about employment law to keep the company out of trouble, but you're not someone who hides behind policy when a human conversation would work better.
You're organized without being rigid. You can manage competing priorities without dropping the ones that matter. And you know the difference between an urgent HR issue and one that just feels urgent to the person asking.
More specifically:
- 3 years of HR generalist experience across multiple HR functions
- Working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance
- Experience with HRIS systems and standard HR processes
- Comfortable working independently without a team to lean on
- Discreet — people need to be able to trust you with information that doesn't leave the room
- PHR, SPHR, or SHRM certification is a plus, not a requirement
